Ilulissat Icefjord Centre
The building
A visitor centre at the icefjord in Ilulissat, Greenland, facilitates the development of the area and Ilulissat as a destination. The centre conveys the spectacular UNESCO-protected nature, its history, and culture, as well as the importance of climate change. Inside, an exhibition blends art and science through pictures, sounds, and senses.
Choice of floor solution
Our Solid planks in oak were the ideal choice for the centre, complementing the project’s focus on climate research. Here, we delivered a FSC-certified flooring. These beautiful planks follow the architectural expression of the building, as the building rounds. With a unique design and strong durability, a long-lasting wooden floor is ensured for generations.
The Icefjord Centre is located in a unique landscape characterized by an extreme climate and surrounded by glaciers that daily produce immense amounts of ice.
