Inclusive, Durable, and Sustainable
At Dansk Wilton, a Bilinga floor unites an entire company.
Covering an impressive 9,300 m², this wooden floor connects every part of the organisation - from production and administration to the design department, workshop, and warehouse. Having the same Bilinga flooring throughout the entire facility is both exceptional and truly unique.
Not only does it provide architectural cohesion, complementing the brick facades of the building, but it also offers a comfortable surface for movement and transport, easy maintenance, and a pleasant indoor climate.
A Legacy of Strength and Beauty
The original solid Bilinga block flooring, laid in large parts of the production and workshop areas, dates back to the inauguration of the headquarters in 1966. Designed by the architectural firm Skaarup and Jespersen of Copenhagen, the building was expanded in 2019 following designs by artist Ingvar Cronhammar.
Over the decades, as the facility has grown and evolved, new sections of flooring have been added and some areas refurbished to accommodate updated looms and other production equipment. These floors withstand significant wear and tear, with heavy forklift transport running daily through the building. The indoor climate is carefully managed with humidification to stabilise conditions and control dust levels.
For nearly six decades, the Bilinga floors at Dansk Wilton have served their purpose admirably. The passage of time is evident across the facility, from nearly pristine areas to visibly worn surfaces in the storage sections and oil-stained floors in the workshop. Yet, even the most used sections maintain a functional patina that will remain serviceable for many years to come.

Simple Maintenance, Lasting Quality
Daily cleaning involves nothing more than damp or dry mopping to remove light debris and wool dust from the looms. The floors are re-oiled approximately every eight years, and when needed, they can be easily refreshed with light sanding and treatment.
With its exceptional durability, long lifespan, and modest maintenance requirements, Bilinga from Hørning is an aesthetic, economical, and sustainable choice for industrial, office, and residential flooring.
Bilinga: Nauclea diderrichii
Bilinga is a dense, heavy hardwood with superior strength properties, surpassing oak and beech. It offers excellent stability with moderate shrinkage, making it an ideal material for demanding environments.

About Dansk Wilton
Founded in 1953 by Johannes Jensen and now owned by a family foundation, Dansk Wilton produces high-quality, bespoke carpets for hotels, restaurants, corporate offices, and passenger ships.
Located in Birk Centerpark, surrounded by nature and grazing sheep, the company benefits from a unique cultural setting. Its neighbours include Herning Folk High School, HEART Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Carl-Henning Pedersen & Else Alfelt Museum.
The textile companies in Birk have long-standing ties to Danish artists such as Ingvar Cronhammar, Jørn Utzon, Carl-Henning Pedersen, and landscape architect C. Th. Sørensen. In 1993, artist Poul Gadegaard created the vibrant sculpture that now serves as Dansk Wilton’s logo. Gadegaard is also celebrated for his bold decorations at the Angli shirt factory. Together with COBRA painter and sculptor Henry Heerup, he contributed to several carpet collections for Dansk Wilton.
